Gerry Charlton, Director
Gerry has 30 years’ experience in the area of sports ground management. He has worked as curator of grounds at Carey Grammar (Vic) and Sacred Heart College (SA) and as a Technical Officer Turf and Irrigation, followed by Manager of Parks, for the City of Salisbury for 17 years. Gerry formed IPOS Consulting in 2007.
Gerry has a Graduate Diploma in Management (Uni SA), Diploma in Applied Science – Urban Park Management, Advanced Diploma in Horticulture (Turf Management) and is a Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor. He is President and life member of the Sports Turf Association of South Australia and sits on the board of the National STA, member of Irrigation Australia Ltd, Australian Golf Course Superintendents Association, and Parks and Leisure Australia.
Gerry project managed and authored the Code of Practice Irrigated Public Open Space for the SA State Government and he currently sits on the Water Allocation Plan Advisory Committee for the Central Adelaide Groundwater Region.
Gerry has an in-depth understanding of the school and local government sectors. His specialty is the development of innovative management systems and he is able to apply his knowledge and experience to provide practical solutions.
Craig James, Technical Officer Facilities
Craig has been with IPOS for the past 4 years working as Technical Officer, Facilities. Craig has a background in engineering as a tradesman Fitter and Turner coupled with a Trade Certificate in Horticulture (Turf Management).
Craig has 30 years’ experience in local government with the City of Onkaparinga in a variety of roles including Irrigation Technician, Parks Coordinator and for 10 years as the Sport and Recreation Facilities Coordinator, where he was responsible the maintenance and management of both sports turf and hard court facilities and associated fixtures including lighting.
Craig ‘knows stuff’ and if he doesn’t he’ll find out. Craig manages all the technical aspects, computerised irrigation control, soil moisture sensors, Trimble GPS pick-ups for Esri and ArcGIS, irrigation audits, and anything where remote communication is involved.
David Sampson, Technical Officer Turf
David has been with IPOS for the past 6 years as Technical Officer, Turf.
David has 10 years’ experience in the turf industry. His background, prior to joining IPOS, is as an Apprentice Green Keeper at Grange Golf Club and Irrigation and Turf Technician with Belair Turf Management.
David has a Diploma in Turf Management and has a passion for turf. He carries out TurfSafe and agronomic field assessments, and prepares reports on sports ground usage and capacity.
